Where does it come from?

Frankincense is a resin obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia, particularly Boswellia sacra, Boswellia carteri, Boswellia serrata, and Boswellia frereana. These trees are native to regions in the Arabian Peninsula, particularly Oman and Yemen, as well as parts of northeastern Africa, including Somalia and Ethiopia. The resin is harvested by making small incisions in the tree bark, allowing the sap to ooze out and harden into tears, which are then collected and used for various purposes, including traditional medicine, religious rituals, and perfumery.
